Preserving Their Stories

Please join us in making this dream a reality.

Together we will  ensure that the extraordinary contributions of Florida women will be recognized and preserved for generations to come.

Women's history is our nation's story. It is the story of how women built communities and inspired and nurtured dreams. It is a story of inspiration and hope. A story of courage and tenacity. A story of promise, possibility and purpose. Unfortunately, it is also an untold story.

The
Florida Commission on the Status of Women (FCSW) and the FCSW Foundation Inc., are pleased to announce an exciting project that, for the first time, will chronicle the important contributions of women to Florida, from the earliest Native American tribes, to today’s pioneering women.

The soon to be published book, created in partnership with
University Press of Florida and renowned author and historian Doris Weatherford, will be an invaluable resource and research tool for educators, students and the public. This project will bring a historical perspective to the role of women in the evolution and development of our State…one that will inspire and motivate future generations of Floridians.
