Nancy Acevedo
Winter Springs
Commissioner Nancy C. Acevedo of Winter Springs was
last appointed to the Commission in 2008 by former Speaker of the House Marco
Rubio. Commissioner Acevedo is currently an Intelligence Analyst with the
Seminole County Sheriff’s Office/ Domestic Security Unit. She is a graduate of
the University of Puerto Rico and the Inter-American University, and holds a
Ph.D. in Education. In 2007 she graduated from the SCSO Community Law
Enforcement Academy and in 2009 was re-appointed to the Seminole County Sheriff
Citizens Advisory Council for the Response to Resistance Council.
In 2011 she was re- elected to serve as secretary to the
FINDER/UCF/Law Enforcement Data Sharing Consortium
She is the
former President of the Florida Crime Intelligence Analyst Association (FCIAA),
an active member of the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA) and
the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA).
In 2004 she was appointed by the former Governor Jeb Bush to the East Central
Florida Regional Planning Council, and in 2006 she received a Presidential
appointment to the US Small Business Administration National Advisory Board.
In 2010 she was selected as one of the "Most Influential Hispanic Women"
in Central Florida by the National Hispanic Achievers in Florida and in 2011 she
was awarded the "Eagle Lifetime Achievement Award" by the Hispanic Women Chamber
of Commerce for her lifetime dedication and contributions to the
Hispanic community.
Commissioner Acevedo currently serves as Diplomat to the Florida International
Business Council and as a political activist in the Central Florida area.
