Summer 2007

Just as the summer Florida heat has set in, the
work of the FCSW has reached full steam! On June
25, 2007, I had the privilege of addressing the
members of the
Jacksonville Mayor's Commission on the Status of
Women. The Mayor's Commission's purpose is
to develop a public consciousness of the talents
of women, regardless of race, color or creed, as
equal partners in the private, business and
civic community; to encourage women to become
actively involved in matters pertaining to the
community; to work toward utilization of capable
women in roles of leadership; and to serve as a
source of information for women on legal and
human rights, economic equality, health, and
discrimination.

FCSW Chair Norma S. White, L.H.D., and
members of the Jacksonville Mayor's Commission.
This is an extremely enthusiastic group of women
who have great things planed for 2007, including
a new event this fall, a Women's Financial
Literacy Forum. The forum will include a panel
discussion with notable women in leadership,
networking and scholarship awards. Save the date
and mark your calendar for October 19, 2007.
We are also very excited to announce plans for
our next Florida Women Mean Business!
conference to take place on Saturday, October
20, 2007 at Hodges University, Ft. Myers,
Florida. This
conference will bring together emerging and
successful women entrepreneurs from across the
state to share insights and information on
everything from budgeting to taxes, and business
plans to employee management. Women will gain
the knowledge, skills and confidence to make
their business idea a reality.
The FCSW is thankful for the opportunity to
educate, inform, and recognize Florida women and
we hope that Connections will
continue to be an important
and useful resource.
