Dr. Mohinder "Mona" Jain, M.D., Ph.D.

Commissioner Mohinder “Mona”
Jain, M.D., Ph.D., diligently serves the Florida
Commission on the Status of Women (FCSW) and is
known among her colleagues as an individual that
“leaves no stone unturned.” She has not only
dedicated many years to the FCSW, she also
serves as Honorary Chair Emeritus of the Manatee
Commission on the Status of Women. The expertise
that she brings from her many facets of life is
invaluable.
She is a former Fulbright and National Science
Foundation Scholar. Dr. Jain has been a teacher
and Supervisor/ Administrator in the American,
British and Indian System of Education since
1961. Dr. Jain recently retired as Director of
Children and Families Health Services for
Manatee County Head Start. She believes in
education for all students, especially
Continuing Education for non-traditional mature
students. She has helped women and men return to
school for the last two decades at Bethune-Cookman
College Bradenton Site. She is presently
coordinator at the site.
During a visit to India, her county of birth,
she was granted private audience with Mother
Teresa. Commissioner Jain has traveled
extensively in almost all the State in USA and
over 60 countries in all the 5 continents of the
world. Sarasota and Manatee Counties have been
home to Dr. Jain and her family for the last
forty years. Mona’s husband Kailash is owner of
a jewelry store in Sarasota and her daughter Dr.
Anila Jain is medical consultant and child
advocate in Manatee County.
