Florida Women's Hall of Fame

The Florida Women's Hall of Fame was created by Florida Statute, to honor women who, through their lives and efforts, have made significant contributions to the improvement of life for women and for all citizen of Florida. The FCSW maintains and facilitates the permanent Florida Women's Hall of Fame display in the state Capitol.

Nominations for the 2008-2009 Florida Women’s Hall of Fame are now being accepted through Tuesday, July 15, 2008 by the Florida Commission on the Status of Women. Since its inception in 1982, the Hall of Fame has recognized and honored Florida women who, through their lives and works, have made significant contributions to the improvement of life for all citizens of the state.
 
The Commission accepts nominations to the Hall of Fame annually between April 1 and July 15. Following deliberations, the Commission will recommend 10 nominees to Governor Charlie Crist, who will select up to three women for induction into the Hall in a March 2009 ceremony.

Three Outstanding Women Inducted into the
2007/2008 Florida Women's Hall of Fame

Governor Charlie Crist will inducted three outstanding Florida women into the Florida Women’s Hall of Fame Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. in the Capitol Courtyard in Tallahassee. The women being honored were Justice Barbara J. Pariente, Dr. Pallavi Patel, and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. The Florida Women’s Hall of Fame honors women who, through their lives and efforts, have made significant contributions to the improvement of live for women and for all citizen of Florida. The event honoring the inductees serves as an acknowledgment of lifetime achievement, as well as a celebration.

“These women represent the very best of Florida,” Governor Crist said. “Their accomplishments are not only impressive, but have impacted their communities in a powerful and meaningful way. It gives me great pleasure to honor their contributions to our state through the Florida Women’s Hall of Fame.”
